Epidendrum falcatum

Not to be confused with Epidendrum parkinsonianum.  This species grows on rocks and cliff faces, while its cousin parkinsonianum almost exclusively on trees.  To say it is less common than parkinsonianum might be an understatement since it grows in very adverse conditions and mainly on the western cordillera from Chiapas to Jalisco.  It is definitely hard to find in accessible places.  The plants are very brittle and it tends to propagate itself from fallen broken pseudobulbs.  Is all it takes is one bulb and leaf to make a new plant.
