Encyclia incumbens

Guess why they used to call this
species aromatica? Right! It is very fragrant. But now it is
recognized once again as Encyclia incumbens! At least it
didn't change genus!
It appears to be a very popular species, easy to grow and easily adapts to
warmer growing conditions, even though it is found in the central mountains of
Chiapas around 5000 ft. elevation. It is known only from Chiapas and Guatemala.
It grows side by side with Encyclia selligera and the plants are very difficult
to distinguish, unless in bloom or with a dried inflorescence. The aromatica
will normally have a thinner and more branched inflorescence than the selligera.
Also the pseudobulbs tend to be more rounded, while the selligera's are more
elongated towards the tip. Other species that are easily confused with it out of
bloom are: Encyclia candolei, Encyclia chiapensis,
Encyclia diota, Encyclia dressleriana
This species will vary in flower color from a creamy white to an olive brown.
