Domingoa kienastii

This interesting miniature grows at higher elevations, 5000 to 7000 feet and often in places you never expect to see an orchid. Weyman has found it from Hidalgo to Oaxaca on the gulf slope and in Michoacan and Guerrero in the central plateau. Actually it is found right off the freeway between Morelia and Queretaro. Where it is found it will often occur growing in huge masses covering the branches primarily of oak trees. In Oaxaca it grows alongside Encyclia citrina and Lemboglossum maculatum. In the central plateau, there will be no other orchids around. Ironically this same species is reported from the Caribbean?
