Barkeria scandens

This is one of the brightest colored of all Barkeria species and religiously blooms for the "Day of the Dead", the first of November.  It is an internmediate growing species found only along the western mountain range of the west coast between Oaxaca and Michoacan.  It grows well alongside Encyclia adenocaula, Encyclia atrorubens and Lemboglossum londesboroughianum.  Another twig epiphyte, like all Barkerias, it enjoys a definite rest period from water between February and may at least.
